Mark Wincell – Decades of NOW Presenter on Rocking Fox Radio

Mark Wincell is the presenter of Decades of NOW on Rocking Fox Radio, bringing his lifelong love of music to a programme inspired by the iconic NOW That’s What I Call Music! compilation albums.

From making and selling mixtapes in the 1980s and 1990s to DJing at parties, Mark’s musical journey eventually led him to internet radio.

How Mark Wincell Joined Rocking Fox Radio

Mark’s introduction to Rocking Fox Radio came through an unexpected encounter during an online poker game with Tom Banks, presenter of The 80s Lounge.

After discovering the station, Mark became a regular listener. However, it wasn’t long before station co-founder Jan Gow encouraged him to try presenting a Listener Hour programme.

So we asked Mark how he ended up part of the Rocking Fox Team?

“Playing poker one night online it ended up myself and Tom Banks (our 80s Lounge presenter).
Tom told me about his new show and Rocking Fox Radio so I checked both out – the 70’s/90’s shows and The Puzzle Pod Show quickly becoming favourites.
Rocking Fox Radio became my daily music station then Jan invited – not bullied – me into doing a listener hour show which I loved doing, and then followed that up with with second Listener Hour Show.
I then had the idea for the Decades of Now concept to celebrate the four decades of NOW albums – Jan also thought this was a great idea and a show was born!
I have always been into music from selling my own mix tapes in the 80’s/90’s to shops/clubs and the odd party DJ-ing, so being given the chance to host my own radio show was a dream come true.”

Celebrating Four Years of Decades of NOW

October 2026 marked the fourth anniversary of Decades of NOW on Rocking Fox Radio!

First broadcast in October 2022, the programme originally celebrated four decades of NOW That’s What I Call Music! albums. Mark selected albums from different decades and played tracks from each release.

Since then, Decades of NOW has evolved to include themed programmes exploring musical genres, individual years, film soundtracks, television music and much more.

As a result, the show continues to offer listeners a varied musical journey, with new themes and selections each week.

When Can You Hear Decades of NOW?

Decades of NOW is broadcast every Saturday afternoon, with a repeat on Tuesday evenings.

Until the end of October 2026:

• Saturday, 3pm–5pm – New show
• Tuesday, 7pm – Repeat

From Saturday 7 November 2026:

• Saturday, 1pm–3pm – New show
• Tuesday, 7pm – Repeat

Bank Holiday Decades of NOW Days

There’s even more Decades of NOW to enjoy on Bank Holiday Mondays!

On these special days, Rocking Fox Radio temporarily suspends its regular Foxy’s Jukebox programming between 10am and 6pm.

Instead, listeners are treated to eight hours of music featuring four back-to-back Decades of NOW Yearbook shows.

Each two-hour programme celebrates a different year from the NOW That’s What I Call Music! Yearbook series, with four randomly selected editions creating a musical journey through different years.

It’s an opportunity to revisit the music of individual years and enjoy a full day of Decades of NOW nostalgia.

From Mixtapes to Music Radio

Long before becoming a radio presenter, Mark was already sharing music with others.

During the 1980s and 1990s, he made and sold mixtapes to shops and clubs. He also enjoyed occasional DJing at parties.

Today, that lifelong enthusiasm continues through Decades of NOW, bringing together his love of music, the NOW compilation series and the opportunity to share songs with Rocking Fox Radio listeners.
