This Album Saves Lives Vol. 1 – Punk Rock Supporting Mental Health Charities

Punk rock has always been about more than music. It’s about community, solidarity, standing together and making a difference. And sometimes, music really can help change lives.

That’s the powerful message behind This Album Saves Lives Vol. 1, a charity punk compilation organised through Rock ‘Em Dead Records, raising money for two important mental health charities: Samaritans and YoungMinds.

Featuring contributions from established punk legends alongside newer artists from the UK and US punk scenes, this special vinyl release brings musicians together for a cause that matters.

And here at Rocking Fox Radio, we’re proud to help spread the word.

A Punk Charity Album with a Personal Story

The story behind This Album Saves Lives Vol. 1 is a deeply personal one.

The project was created following the tragic loss of the organiser’s partner’s son to suicide while at university in February 2023.

In the aftermath of that loss, friends and family raised money for mental health and bereavement charities. The idea for a charity album grew from a desire to continue supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties and to help prevent further tragedies.

The result was a compilation bringing together musicians from across the punk community, united by a shared determination to make a difference.

Importantly, this was a personal fundraising project rather than an official Rock ‘Em Dead Records release.
